Where the hell is Tröbigau?
Geographical description:
The village Tröbigau is situated in Saxony (Germany), in the western part of the Higher Lausitz,
close to the cities Bischofswerda and Boutzen. It is part of the community
Schmölln-Putzkau). Tröbigau is the first village in the valley of the Schwarzwasser river
("black water"). The river arises on the top of the mountain "Hoher Hahn" ("high cock") which
is in the area of Tröbigau. After the river has left our community, it flows among the Sorbian
area (e.g. the comunities Göda/Hodzij, Neschwitz/Njeswacidlo
y Königswartha/Rakecy). Next to the city Hoyerswerda it will be merged with the river "Schwarze
Elster", which delivers the name for the common river, for whatever reason.
In the neighbourhood of Tröbigau there are several mountains, e.g. Hoher Hahn
(High cock, 446 m), Tröbigauer Berg (Mount Tröbigau, 401 m), Klosterberg (Mount Convent, 394 m), Tröbigauer
Butterberg (Butter mountain, 385 m) y Oberhofberg (High yard mountain, 341 m).
The village itself is situated at an altitude between 290 (lower village) and 340 (higher
village) above the sea level.

How to travel to Tröbigau:
Unfortunately there are not very much traffic signs at all which show the way to Tröbigau.
Neither in Dresden, Bautzen nor in Bischofswerda can be found only one hint to Tröbigau.
Just in the villages in the direct neighbourhood of Tröbigau, i.e. Schmölln, Naundorf and
Putzkau
the name is mentioned.
For that reason we want to provide some hints how to find our village:
By car:
From Dresden:
* Federal road B6 east in direction Bischofswerda
* in Bischofswerda follow the main road until the culture house, then in
direction Schmölln, in Schmölln you will find signs to Tröbigau
From Bautzen:
* From the center of Bautzen follow the federal road B6 in direction Bischofswerda
* After passing the bridge of peace (Friedensbrücke) move to right in direction Neukirch
* follow the main road until it changes to left, there don't change the direction (->Gaußig)
* Cross Gaußig and Naundorf and then you will directly access Tröbigau
Desde extranjero:
If you come from a very far location, e.g. from abroad, you should preferencially use the
motorway A4 from Dresden in direction Görlitz. Leave the motorway at the exit
Uhyst am Taucher. From there follow the hints in direction Bischofswerda until
Taschendorf, but there don't change the direction, and cross directly Stacha, Wölkau and
Demitz-Thumitz. The next village is Schmölln, where you will find again signs referring to
Tröbigau.
By bus or railway
Unfortunately Tröbigau does not have an own railway station. But it is not very inconvenient
to use the railway Dresden-Zittau and leave the train in Schmölln or Putzkau. From both
stations it takes just about 30 minutes to walk to Tröbigau.
But nevertheless in the village exist at least two bus stations. Busses of the lines
R114 (Bautzen-Gaußig-Bischofswerda) and R177 (Bischofswerda-Putzkau-Demitz-Thumitz-
Bischofswerda) are crossing Tröbigau.
